Dog-Friendly Destinations
Good news! Another dog-friendly beach has been added to our Viajes 4 Patas guide. It seems that coastal municipalities are deciding to meet the growing demand from citizens who want leisure spaces where they can take their pets.
This time, the lucky four-legged friends have once again been the residents of Barcelona. The popular tourist town of Sitges, located 20 minutes from Barcelona, has set aside a section of beach for owners and pets to use and enjoy throughout the year. The beach chosen was Port Ginesta, located on the stretch next to the harbor breakwater.

Before summer ends, we hope to pop our heads around there. So, we'll write to you soon with more information and photos of this new dog beach. How exciting!
For now, and to prove that this beach exists, here are some photos taken by our friends at quedadasperrunas.com during their beach outing at Playa Port Ginesta.

We would also like to remind you that Sitges has two other beaches where dogs are allowed: Vallcarca Beach and Grills Beach.
If you need more detailed information on how to get there, click here to access the Port Ginesta beach page in our travel guide.
Last-minute notice: Due to vandalism and theft by a group opposed to this initiative, the Sitges City Council has announced that dogs will not be allowed on the beach for a few days until the area has been properly cordoned off to avoid conflicts with other beachgoers. You can stay informed through the Facebook group Playa Port Ginesta.
