Plans and Getaways
Where can I go with my pet if I travel to Cádiz? In addition to dog parks, such as Laguna del Moral in Rota, or the dog beach in Camposoto in San Fernando, there are many other WOW plans such as the always interesting Greenways, through which you can learn about the fauna and flora of the enclaves, or tourist locations where enjoyment is guaranteed (Tarifa, Conil de la Frontera, Zahara de los Atunes). Take note.ROUTES WITH YOUR DOGHere are five activities to enjoy with dogs in the province of Cadiz: Rota, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Tarifa, Puerto Real, Zahara de los Atunes (Barbate), and Conil de la Frontera make up this route. Entre Ríos Greenway (Rota-Sanlúcar de Barrameda) The Entre Ríos Greenway starts in Rota and ends in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, passing through Chipiona. It stretches for just over 16 kilometers, which you can travel with your dog, provided it is on a leash, as required by law. Regardless of the distance of the Greenway, never forget to hydrate your pet beforehand, as well as bringing food and drink for the trip. The dune landscape, typical of the Atlantic coast, is not lacking here. You can cross agricultural fields, pine forests, and Chipiona fishing corrals, typical of the northwest coast of Cadiz. Walkways, halts, stations... the legacy of the railway lines remains here, in full view of hikers. Camarinal Lighthouse (Tarifa) Where the Mediterranean and Atlantic waters meet... we find Punta de Tarifa. Opposite the city of the same name, it offers many attractions for tourists looking for pet-friendly places. With accommodations where you can relax with your family and spend a few wonderful days with your pet. Enjoy yurts—Mongolian-style cabins, widely used in Central Asia—without sacrificing comfort.Leisure activities in Tarifa are as diverse as they are exciting, although some people prefer to relax in a hammock in a paradisiacal setting or gaze at the African coast from the town itself. If you're into active tourism, we suggest a walk to the Torre del Cabo de Gracia or Camarinal lighthouse, declared a Site of Cultural Interest. Originally a watchtower, it was built by order of Philip II in the 16th century to protect the coast from Barbary pirates. Your dog will love it.Matagorda Greenway (Puerto Real) The historic center of Puerto Real is one of the attractions of this old road, in addition to the natural environment that surrounds it: the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park, specifically one of the best-preserved marshes in the bay (the Los Toruños and Pinar de la Algaida marshes). A wooden walkway runs along this trail, which is just over three and a half kilometers long. A very pleasant walk to learn more about the birdlife in this area of the bay. El Almarchal Route (Zahara de los Atunes) Located on a plain by the sea, this small fishing village is surrounded by hills belonging to two mountain ranges, Retén and La Plata. Famous for its coves and golden sandy beaches, which are rarely crowded, it is ideal for a weekend getaway. Or for hiking with your pet on the El Almarchal Trail, which runs along the banks of the Cachón River. If you like to travel with pets, you'll want to know about the various pet-friendly places to eat.Las Calas de Roche Trail (Conil de la Frontera) The white houses of Conil, when they cut out the sky, appear like a dazzling postcard that you can't take your eyes off. But Conil de la Frontera is much more than its beaches or its tuna fishery. You can try Moroccan cuisine, for example, in several places that allow pets. Or go on an active tour with your furry friend along the Calas de Roche trail, which offers a delightful path of sand and wood. The route, which is just over six kilometers long, is circular and starts at the end of the chiclanera—and historic—beach of La Barrosa.DOG-FRIENDLY BEACHES Currently, the Cadiz coast has two dog-friendly beaches in Cadiz:-Playa de Camposoto, located in San Fernando de Cádiz. It is located one and a half kilometers from Punta del Boquerón and two kilometers from the designated swimming area, which is equipped with services. It can only be accessed on foot via the path that leads to the Punta Natural Monument, a route that is not always easy or comfortable. In fact, its remoteness and accessibility issues have been the main criticisms levelled at the dog beach experience, which is now in its third summer.

During the rest of the year, the following towns allow pets on their beaches outside the summer season (June 1 to September 30):
– Barbate.
Chipiona: permitted from November 2 to February 27.
La Línea de la Concepción.
Rota.San Fernando (except on the Camposoto dog beach, where dogs are allowed during the bathing season). Sanlúcar de Barrameda: the official beach season is from June 15 to September 15. From September 16 to June 14, dogs are allowed on the beaches. Vejer de la Frontera.>DOG-FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATIONS
