Dog-Friendly Destinations

Nature has sculpted true wonders, and the Congost de Mont-rebei, which forms the natural border between Catalonia and Aragon, is one of them. Vertiginous walls, suspension bridges, and trails carved into spectacular canyons will take your breath away.

How to explore the Montrebei Gorge

There are several ways to explore the Mont-rebei Gorge:
-By kayak (there and back by kayak)

-By kayak and boat (kayak there and boat back)
-By kayak and on foot (kayak-trek: kayak there and walk back)
-By boat (there and back by boat)
-By boat and on foot (boat there, walk back)

Due to the cold weather, we opted to explore the gorge on foot. But our dog friend Lua enjoyed the kayak trip, an activity that provides amazing views from the water. ¡Video inside!
If you want to discover more dog-friendly routes in Spain 2026, including adventures such as the Congost de Mont-rebei, you'll find all the information you need to plan your next excursions with your furry friend.

WALKING ROUTES

There are three route options to choose from:

1- To Congost de Mont-rebei from La Masieta
Most visitors start the route from the La Masieta parking lot. The parking lot is paid and it is recommended to reserve in advance. We do not recommend this route for people who suffer from vertigo.

2. To Congost de Mont-Rebei from Corça
¡This was the route we chose! A much longer route covering a total of approximately 22km there and back with quite a steep incline, although suitable for any hiker.
The route starts from the Pertusa car park and from there it is easy to follow. The path is very well signposted to Congost. Just let yourself go and enjoy the spectacular scenery.
At the start of the trail, you can choose to climb up to the Ermita Mare de Déu de la Pertusa chapel, located on the tip of a cliff with breathtaking views.

3. To the Mont-Rebei gorge from Montfalcó
This route crosses the Montfalcó footbridges: zigzag wooden stairways attached to the cliff wall.

Tips to keep in mind

-On routes 1 and 2, dogs must be kept on a leash for their own safety and that of other visitors.
-People who suffer from vertigo should not attempt these routes.

-In summer, never forget to always carry water with you. One tip is to get your dog used to drinking and eating from a bottle. This way, you won't waste as much water and it won't take up as much space as a bowl! If you don't have a portable bottle, we recommend this one, which is 3-in-1 and available in our Online Store

-Other than that, just a good pair of hiking boots and a desire to be impressed.

Where to stay?

We stayed at Canut II, located 11 km from Corça, where Route 2 begins. Olga, the owner of the apartment, was charming and gave us lots of information, which we have shared in the post. I want to book!
