If you travel with your dog to the Costa Brava in summer, surely one of the main reasons is to enjoy a few days at the beach with your furry friend. On the Costa Brava, there are several official dog beaches. Specifically in Empuriabrava we find La Rubina: The first beach in all of Spain to officially allow dogs, and one of the highest-rated dog beaches. Both the beach itself and the surrounding area are part of the Aiguamolls del Empordà Natural Park. The dog area is well marked and there are signs installed that make it clear that in this area dogs can bathe with their owners without any problems. At La Rubina you will always find people with dogs, mostly very sociable dogs where your dog can play freely in the water and on the sand. How to get there? To reach the beach by car, you need to turn at the roundabout on the Roses road, located just after the Empuriabrava airfield. There is parking right by the beach. Once there, it is important to access the beach through the marked points, being careful not to damage the dunes under restoration. Remember that the area is part of the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park.
