Did you know that you can now take your dog into any IKEA store in Spain? That's right! Since the beginning of 2026, dogs have been welcome in all IKEA stores. We were thrilled when we heard the news, and as soon as we had the chance, we went to buy a few things for the house with our little ones. They were happy, and we were even happier to be able to go shopping as a family.
If you enter the IKEA website, this is the Pet Access Regulations for IKEA Stores you will find:
-Each family unit may be accompanied by a maximum of two pets during their visit to IKEA.
-Pets are allowed to move around all our facilities except in the Restaurant, Bistro, and Swedish Store areas, where only properly accredited guide or therapy dogs may enter. Access to the consumption area is allowed only in stores where an outdoor terrace is available.

-Pets (of any type) must be accompanied and held on a non-extendable leash of a maximum of 1.5 meters at all times during their visit to IKEA. Under no circumstances are pets allowed to roam freely within our facilities. Under no circumstances may pets be left unattended or tied to IKEA objects or furniture, either indoors or in outdoor areas.
-Pets are not allowed to climb on furniture in any of our commercial or rest areas, either indoors or in outdoor areas. Pets must remain at all times on the floor or in carriers that prevent the animal from escaping.
-Pets may access the restroom area, but under no circumstances is the use of sinks as water fountains allowed.
-Dog breeds considered potentially dangerous must wear a muzzle and a short leash at all times.
-Each pet owner must carry with them, at all times, bags for collecting excrement and, if necessary, cleaning wipes.
-They must also prevent their pets from relieving themselves inside our facilities. If this occurs, the owner must immediately collect/clean it up and notify IKEA staff to ensure the area is disinfected by the Cleaning team.
-Beyond the requirements set out in these regulations, owners of pets entering IKEA must comply with the current legislation on Animals of the Autonomous Community where our store is located, as well as the municipal ordinance regulating the ownership, control, and protection of domestic animals of the corresponding town where the IKEA store they visit is situated.
Pet Admission
-Access is not allowed for pets that are visibly weakened, sick, or do not have proper hygiene conditions. Access is also not allowed for pets with visible or potentially aggressive behavior.
-IKEA reserves the right to deny access or movement to pets that pose a danger or have apparent characteristics that risk the normal operation of the establishment, as well as the comfort and safety of customers, employees, and other pets.
-To ensure customer safety and avoid situations of danger or discomfort for people or animals, IKEA reserves the right to admit pets to events held throughout the store.
-IKEA has the right to request the owner of any pet that violates any point in these regulations to leave our facilities, as well as those who disturb or threaten the well-being and safety of customers, whether due to behavioral issues, noise, or hygiene concerns.
-IKEA reserves the right to modify these regulations if it deems it necessary.
Liability for Damages
The owner will be responsible for the damages and/or losses caused by their pet to IKEA facilities or third parties, also covering any expenses or costs arising from these events.
