Plans and Getaways

The Sierra de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas is an incomparable natural environment that offers the possibility of doing many hiking routes with your pet. Viajes 4Patas brings you a selection of 6 routes to discover the natural park and the wonders that this area of the province of Jaén has to offer us.

Borosa River Trail

One of the most beautiful routes in Cazorla and the most visited in the natural park is the Borosa River Route, specifically the Cerrada de Elías section, due to its beautiful landscapes throughout the year.
The A-319 road connects Cazorla with the Tranco Reservoir. La Torre del Vinagre is located along this route, and the trail begins there, next to the fish farm and the Botanical Garden.
The trail follows the course of the Borosa River, a tributary of the Guadalquivir. With spectacular landscapes, the wooden walkway brings us even closer to the river, and there are various waterfalls and natural landscapes that we can photograph. If you want to discover more dog-friendly routes in Spain 2026, including this and other dog-friendly adventures, you will find all the information you need to plan your next excursions with your pet.

Guazalamanco Waterfall

Within the Water Route, at the Bolera de Pozo Alcón reservoir, 20 minutes from Casas Cueva Cazorla, you will find the Guazalamanco stream trail. It is a crystal-clear stream, surrounded by impressive landscapes, on an easy 30-minute round trip route. You will encounter different waterfalls, and a large waterfall at the end of the trail. Ideal to do all year round; in the rainiest months, the waterfall is more beautiful.

Castril Footbridge Trail

Short, easy, and spectacular. This walk has everything for the whole family to enjoy, including your pet. It runs mostly along a wooden walkway over the Castril River, a suspension bridge, and a tunnel. A beautiful natural landscape integrated into the urban structure of the town of Castril.

Valdeazores Lagoon

This route starts from the Las Navas trail at Collado Bermejo. It is an easy and beautiful descent through forests of black pine, ferns, ash, maple, gall oak, holm oak, elm, some yew, holly, and we can also observe the most characteristic fauna of the area.
After 4.4 km, we reach the Valdeazores Lagoon, which is the only permanent natural lagoon in the park. It was formed by a large landslide that blocked the Arroyo de la Reina stream, and the current retaining wall was built later. From the other side of the wall, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the entire lagoon. It is home to a surprising variety of lake flora and fauna, including mute swans, coots, and moorhens.

Aguamulas River

The Aguasmulas River is a small tributary of the Guadalquivir, which runs through one of the most beautiful valleys in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas Natural Park, forming rapids and pools.
This route allows you to enjoy a pleasant walk among pine forests and the impressive walls of Banderillas, at an altitude of almost 2,000 meters.
It is a route of more than nine and a half kilometers, easy to follow and impossible to get lost, as it is marked as GR-7. During the walk, we will go parallel to the river with very little elevation gain, except for a section with curves.
