Dog-Friendly Destinations
Traveling with pets is always a challenge and requires more planning so that everyone can enjoy the stay. Italy is a country full of wonderful places to discover, with centuries of history and, beyond its beautiful beaches and imposing cities, there are less explored natural corners that can be ideal places to explore with our pets.
Among these special sites, two coastal areas stand out: the Amalfi Coast and Cinque Terre, which, in addition to sun and beach, offer incredible hiking routes in stunning natural environments that invite relaxation and leave room for our four-legged friends to run freely.
In this article, we will talk about these two magical enclaves in Italy, strategically located between the coast and the mountains, and the options they offer for those who want to discover them with their pets.
Hiking the trails of the Amalfi Coast with dogs
The Amalfi Coast is an Italian enclave that offers some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. It is also a paradise for hiking enthusiasts, a great option if we travel with pets, as we can explore the numerous trails in the company of our canine friends.
Its mountain routes stand out for the atmosphere of peace and tranquility that surrounds them and for the incredible views of the blue sea. We can freely walk them with our dogs and discover the picturesque villages along the way, nestled among vineyards or olive and lemon groves. From many of these paths, it is possible to see important landmarks of Italian geography, such as Vesuvius, Capri, or the Gulf of Naples.
Fortunately, finding pet-friendly accommodation is not difficult, and overall, it is a pet-friendly area.
Discover the secrets of the Cinque Terre trails with your pet
The area of the Italian coast known as Cinque Terre is one of the most special destinations in this Mediterranean country. It consists of five villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.
It is undoubtedly a unique setting, dotted with dizzying cliffs contrasting with beautiful colorful houses. So discovering it with our pet is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
There are many paths that reveal the treasures of these five picturesque villages, and all allow pets to roam freely. In total, there are about 120 km of trails along its coast, forming 48 routes. Almost all are open to the
public; for the two most important ones, a special "Cinque Terre" card is needed to access them: the Monterosso - Vernazza and Vernazza - Corniglia routes.
It is worth noting that some beaches do not allow dogs, so it is advisable to check beforehand to avoid an unexpected fine. As for accommodation, it is recommended to look for options in Levanto and La Spezia, where there is a greater supply and more pet-friendly options.
In conclusion, both the Amalfi Coast and Cinque Terre are two destinations that allow you to enjoy the Italian coast with your dogs in a different way, discovering their secrets along the beautiful trails that run through them and sharing the peace that this privileged environment and its dreamlike landscapes convey.
