Dog Beaches
O Grove has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Galicia thanks to its beaches, hot springs, and seafood. Two dog-friendly beaches and one of the leading hotels in canine tourism, offering therapy and wellness services, are the reasons why this municipality located at the entrance to the Arousa estuary is one of the most WOW places to take a getaway with our pets.
DOG BEACHES IN O GROVE
O Grove 'breaks records' in terms of the number of Dog Beaches. Three beaches allow us to bring our dogs at any time of the year. Take note!
-O Espiño Beach and Portiño Beach, next to each other, in the parish of San Vicente, on the southern part of the peninsula, near the sports marina.
'I have to confess that before visiting the beach, I had serious doubts about whether it would be worth driving the 300 kilometers to and from O Grove, but we had such a great time at O Espiño Beach that I'm glad I took the plunge and got to know the beach,' explains Roberto from the blog miperromola.com

This beach is about 75 meters long, with white but fairly coarse sand (watch your feet). The water is crystal clear and very clean, as well as very calm, with hardly any waves, making it an ideal beach for small dogs or those that are afraid of the water.
O Espiño Beach is located in the idyllic area of O Grove, specifically in the parish of San Vicente do Grove. The area is very well connected, so you should have no trouble getting there.GPS coordinates: 42.459182, -8.919757. Clicking on the link should open Google Maps showing you the beach.

Where to eat with your pet in O Grove?
The first option would be the traditional tortilla sandwich, but if you want to treat yourself, you can eat at Asador D'Pepe, which is right next to one of the beach entrances. It has a charming terrace with views where you can bring your dog.

DOG-FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATIONS IN O GROVE
HOTEL CONS DA GARDA
It is undoubtedly one of the reference hotels for clients traveling with our dog. It is located very close to the dog beach of O Espiño and offers luxury treatments for you and your pet: Reiki, Aromatherapy, Audiotherapy, Tellington Therapy, and an agility track with personal training. It also offers a welcome PET KIT, where you will also find the 4paws travel guide.

Hotel Bosque Mar
It is a beautiful complex of two 3-star hotels consisting of apartments and rooms just 300 m from the beach, 3 km from O Grove and the Island of La Toja, in the Rías Baixas of Pontevedra. Very close to the hotel, about 400 m away, there is an area called Punta Moreiras with a beautiful cove perfect for enjoying with your dog. Also, a 5-minute drive away, you will find “Playa O Espiño”.
In the hiking and cycling routes in Rías Baixas section proposed by the hotel, you will also find many suggestions to make the most of your vacation in Galicia, enjoying walks and outdoor sports with your pet while savoring Galician nature and landscapes.

HIKING ROUTES IN THE RÍAS BAIXAS
The Rías Baixas are mainly characterized by their natural wealth. The landscapes mix spectacular beaches with wooded areas and trails that make our area a true natural paradise where the possibilities are very extensive.
All these routes are great for enjoying the landscapes of the area and bird watching, an activity very widespread in this area due to the variety and richness of wildlife in the region.
1. BIRD WATCHING ROUTE
Distance: 10 km.
Duration: Between 3 and 4 hours on foot / 2 hours by bike
Difficulty: Low
It is a circular route, so you can leave the car at the starting point (which would be San Vicente de O Grove, 6 minutes from the Hotel Bosque Mar) and return to the same place. It is a very good area for bird watching, both land birds and water birds. On this route you can enjoy maritime landscapes as well as the inland areas of the O Grove peninsula.
Here you have more information about this route
2. ROUTE IN THE ATLANTIC ISLANDS OF GALICIA MARITIME-TERRESTRIAL NATIONAL PARK
Distance: 13 km.
Duration: 4 or 5 hours on foot / 2-3 hours by bike
Difficulty: Low
You can leave the car at the southern parking lot of A Lanzada Beach, where the route starts.
The route heads towards the Naturalized Lagoons of Rouxique, passing through A Revolta and Os Leiros. A good part of the route runs along the beaches, and another section deviates inland. Throughout the journey, bird watching combined with enjoying the beaches and the extensive nature of the area makes it a highly recommended route for hiking and nature lovers. Here you have all the information about the route
3. CHARADRIUS ROUTE
Distance: 9 km.
Duration: 4 hours on foot / 2 hours by bike
Difficulty: Low
You will need to drive to A Illa de Arousa. As soon as you arrive on the island, you will find O Vao Beach, where the route starts. Practically the entire trail runs along the coast, and it is a very interesting route to stroll and get to know this beautiful island, as it covers the entire southern area of it.
You will pass by several beaches, a bird observatory, and part of the route goes along a nice wooden fenced walkway.
4. WOODEN WALKWAY PEDESTRIAN PATHS
Distance: Approx 2.5 km Pedras Walkway / 1.5 km A Lanzada
Duration: 1 hour Pedras Walkway / 30 minutes A Lanzada
Difficulty: Low
You need to drive to the Pedras Negras Walkway in San Vicente de O Grove, and from there you can let yourself be carried along the wooden walkway to Con Negro. A walk among beautiful cliffs and a sea that in this area you will see rougher than in the estuary, as it is already open sea.
There is another wooden path of about half an hour, also very beautiful and interesting, that runs parallel to A Lanzada Beach.
TRAVEL TIPS..
1. Don't forget to travel with your dog's documentation in order: Vaccination record and passport if you travel outside Spain.
2. On your walks, excursions, and beach days, never forget to bring water and food. One tip is to get your furry friend used to drinking and eating from a bottle. We won't waste as much water and it won't take up as much space as a bowl! If you don't have a portable bottle, we recommend this 3-in-1 one, which you can get from our Online Store.
3. Make sure your dog is protected against parasites and mosquitoes. We also must not forget to bring our furry friend's documentation and have the nearest 24-hour veterinarian located, in case of any emergency.
4. If you are going to be away from home for more than one night, we recommend bringing a travel suitcase for your dog. This way, you can carry all their documents and accessories in an organized and safe manner: Food, towel, brush, favorite toy, treats, their bed, etc...
If your dog still doesn't have their own travel suitcase and you would like to get one, you can do so in our online store. It is ideal for storing and transporting their things and also comes with included accessories.
