Dog Beaches

Playa Canina da Madalena, better known as the dog beach of the municipality of Cabanas, is a small dog paradise with 150 meters of beach where you can enjoy the waves, the sun, and the tranquility with your dog.

It should be noted that Playa Canina da Madalena, together with the dog beach in the municipality of Ares, are the only beaches that allow dogs in the region of A Coruña, despite being a booming tourist attraction. As we all know (at least those of us who have dogs), more and more people are choosing to take their pets on vacation.Despite being a booming tourist attraction, as we all know (at least those of us who have dogs), more and more people are choosing to travel with their dogs and avoid any place where they cannot take their faithful friends.

The beach is located at the southern end of Madalena Beach, between the breakwater and the first pedestrian walkway. It has a good parking area and a pine forest adjacent to the beach, ideal for picnics or sheltering from the sun.

Little Paradise:

The calm waters of the beach are the perfect place for dogs to enjoy the sea without any worries, but near the shore the sand is covered with shells, so it's best to be careful. Apart from the shells, the beach is really nice and worth visiting to spend the day enjoying the beach and then the terraces of the bars, most of which are pet-friendly.

Well signposted:

Unlike other dog beaches we have visited, Cabanas beach is clearly marked and delineated. There is no doubt about where the beach is located or where it begins and ends. There are several signs along the entire promenade announcing the beach.

There is also hiking:

In addition to the beach and pine forest, you can also enjoy a couple of well-marked hiking trails that are very easy to follow.

Please Respect the Rules:

If we want these kinds of initiatives to continue growing, we must do our part and show municipalities that it's worth investing in canine tourism, so please be respectful of others and follow the rules. a) Dogs must be microchipped and have an up-to-date vaccination record.b) Dogs that are not dewormed, have ongoing infectious diseases, are female in heat, or are puppies will not be allowed on the beach until they have received all their vaccinations.c) You must pick up after your pet. It is mandatory to always carry a sufficient number of bags to collect waste and dispose of it in the available trash cans. d) Urinating on the beach is prohibited. e) If it is classified as a dangerous breed (Article 27), it must wear a muzzle, a collar, and be on a leash. f) Keep the pet under control out of respect for other beach users, as the owner will be responsible for any damage it may cause.g) Only two animals per person will be permitted. h) Professional training or instruction will not be permitted in the designated area. i) Dogs with a history of aggression towards other animals or people will not be permitted.
There will be routine checks by the local police and municipal workers to ensure compliance with the rules. Failure to comply will result in the penalties provided for in Article 41 of the ordinance.
